CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH
Style Thief Fashion started because I wanted to create the kind of accessible, real, approachable style that I wasn't seeing on instagram (or many other places!) I had a major shift in my mindset around style when I entered my 40's. I decided I wasn't going to wait for permission to wear what I wanted. I was no longer interested in following the rules that were laid out for me according to my age, my body, the fact that I was a mom. I started dressing the way that felt good to me. And if I could do it, maybe I could help other women find that for themselves. So I became a personal stylist for women who are ready to create their own style rules. And it's been the greatest joy of my life!
I always share with your audience? Focus on FIT NOT SIZE. We've been conditioned to believe that the number on the size tag determines our worthiness. We are not one number. When we focus on finding the pieces that fit and feel good, it's so freeing!
I think our personal style is one of the greatest tools we have to support our dreams, goals and daily lives. We've all had a moment in our lives where we felt GREAT in an outfit. That feeling is so visceral. We all relate to it: the badass blazer that got us our dream job, the shoes that just made the outfit, the dress we wore during a girls trip that was sexy as hell. THAT feeling is one that I want women to tap into every single day. Okay, a sexy dress might not be the thing you wear when you drop your kids off at school, but what other pieces make you feel like YOU? No one gets to determine that for us. WE get to decide.
My goal with the women I work with in my personal styling work is to help them tap into that feeling and find the pieces, the outfits, the style elements that not only make them feel the way they want to feel, but that fit their lives right now. When we have those pieces, we get dressed with ease. We feel good about our outfit and then we can MOVE ON with our day and not fuss over it. We all want to feel good and look good, but we don't have time to fret. We are moms, sisters, business owners, friends. Our style should support us so that we can go out into the world feeling great and kicking ass.
One that comes to mind was a text message I received a few days after a first session with a new client. She said "My body hasn't changed, I have not lost one ounce of weight, and I still have the exact same things in my closet, BUT my mind has completely changed in how I look at my body and my closet. I have so many options and I'm having so much fun getting dressed!
Lipgloss, sunglasses, tape measure. Seriously.
An actress! There's still time :)
